Our second release of Kinda Radicals first ever double episode release! We are once again joined by Clara to break down the 2024 election. 
EEK! I know, right. On this episode we talk about what the Republican Party did correctly, what the Democratic Party did wrong, the role of social media, what we can expect in the future, and of course we start it all with a small rant session. Don't listen to this episode if you expect to get a full and fair picture of the election; this isn't it. These are my feelings about what happened and my own emotions regarding who Trump is as a person and a politician.

November is Native American Heritage Month because November is the traditional month of harvesting for Native tribes. 
On this week's episode of Kinda Radical, I am joined by Gloria Horton, a long time friend and proud Native American of the Pima tribe located in Arizona. We talk about Gloria's experiences growing up on reservation land, and discuss MMIW: missing and murdered indigenous women who are not investigated, not reported on, and not found. This conversation can be very triggering - we talk about sexual violence, rape, domestic violence, and alcoholism.

On today's episode I am joined by Miriam Vishniac, a soon to be graduated PhD student in social policy at the University of Edinburgh. Miriam has spent the last few years researching access to menstrual products [or lack of] in prisons across the United States. On this episode Miriam walks me through her research, starting with the health, economic, and social aspects of not having menstrual products, followed by quantitative laws around the country. We talk about the gender menstrual fallacy, non-menstrator bias, and recidivism. Miriam also shares stories from people who have experienced this in real life or those who worked closely in this field.

Heard the buzz? Rugby is all the rage. Get caught up on the women's Olympic performance including their first medal in the sport, what this means for rugby in the US, and what struggles have brought them to this point. Karee Helgerson is our guest today walking us through her rugby career - highs and lows of a sport not so popular in our country. How can an entire university erase 3 national championships? We don't know either, but that's exactly what happened to Karee, her coach, and her teammates - including Ilona Maher bronze medalist for the US Olympic Rugby team.

Making our way through the Women in Sports series in preparation for the 2024 Summer Olympics with this new episode Women in Sports part 4: Media, with special guest Paityn Tabor. Paityn is a media coordinator for the new USL W league, she is a teammate, a captain, and a storyteller. 
Today we discuss the impact of media in sports, the differences between men and women's media coverage and reporting, the hard fought quest for respect AND prime time (but since we clearly have to pick one or the other, which one is it?), and we answer the question: have women's sports 'made it' when more men watch? Hint: no.
